Imperatus V1.1 Release!

Rejected Changes

The following are suggestions or ideas from the community we have decided not to take forward at this time.

  • Rename Tempest Spear to “Proteus Las Lance”

The Proteus Las Lance was an obscure weapon referenced in a singular book with little lore, and as a result we have chosen to retain our name.

  • Add a separate Militia Attache for the Rogue Trader Retinue

Whilst this is a possibility, it is beyond the scope of our patching covers. As we are now turning to other projects, this has been put in the lane of “maybe next time”

  • Add a Knight Attache for the Rogue Trader Retinue

In a similar vein to the above, this is another idea that has been noted and will be taken into consideration in future releases of Liber Imperatus, but for now our attention is drawn to other works.

  • Add Thaddeus Fayle, Testudo transport, and field ordnance weapon options

In a similar vein to the above, this is another idea that has been noted and will be taken into consideration in future releases of Liber Imperatus, but for now our attention is drawn to other works.

  • Steel Fury Pattern Cohort additional Force Org slots, Lucifer Blacks, and Baneblade Variants for Militia.

A number of the above changes are unnecessary to facilitate their representation, but additional Baneblade Variants may be considered in the future.

  • Cost changes for Achilles and Hot Shot Lasguns

In their current iteration, we believe that the points costs of the above items are effective for their performance.

  • Changes to Vortex Grenade

We believe that the current representation of the Vortex Grenade is an accurate depiction of the weapon, and it will remain unchanged.

  • Sky-Talon Side Armour

The lesser side armour on the Militia Sky Talon is representative of its model, and as a result will not change.

  • Change enginseer force organisation slots

We believe the slots enginseers occupy in Imperatus are appropriate and have no plans to change them.

  • Auxilia Special Weapons are expensive

We believe the current points values assigned to special weapons in solar auxilia are appropriate.

  • Sentinels need changing

We believe, as it stands, both Sentinel additions in Liber Imperatus - and units with the Mechanised Sub-type as a whole - are in okay positions, and as a result have no plans on changing these further, subject to .

  • Chimera Side Armour

The low side armour of the Chimera chassis was a design choice, and as a result we have no plans of changing the statline as of right now.

  • Militia Crabs with Rending

Whilst we all hail Crab every now and again, the lack of Rending on the Crustacean War-beast was a choice in design, and currently have no plans to add rending(6+) to its profile.

  • Greater Spawn IWND (no, get feeding frenzy)

Given the inclusion of the “Feeding Frenzy” special rule, we do not believe the “It Will Not Die” special rule is necessary on the Greater Chaos Spawn and as a result have no plans to implement it onto the unit/

Bug Fixes

Some of the changes we’ve made in this update are simply bug fixes, we’re lumping them all into one section as they were just errors on our behalf so we didn't really have anything constructive to add for each change

Changes and Patches

The following are things we've realised needed changing to work as intended that require a more a thorough explanation.

Aegis Militant Force Organisation Chart - Page 9 - Zone Mortalis Detachments

The lack of clarification regarding the Aegis Militant and Zone Mortalis was lacking. This has been rectified, and a clarified way to run the Aegis Militant in Zone Mortalis.

Retainers Militant - Page 20 - Add the ability to purchase up to two additional Militant Bodyguards to this unit. Reduce this units cost to 75

Upon request we’ve added the ability to purchase some additional mooks to the big bodyguard squad. We also made some changes to the base points cost of the unit, during testing we’d removed line from the standard bearer banner and as such we pulled the cost down.

Templax Challenger - Page 21 - Increase this models Weapon Skill characteristic to 6, Increase this models points cost to 50

We’ve decided to increase the cost and power of this unit, to make it more of a standout compared to the Astartes and Custodes units that can join the squad. In addition we’ve widened the weapon options it can have, and given it the ability to purchase a Proteus Storm Shield to reflect a wider array of models

Militaris Adjutant - Page 27 - Add the ability to purchase Cognis-SIgnum, Augury Scanners and Nuncio Vox’s to this models profile.

We’ve had some feedback that the Adjutant feels a but flat, so we’ve added the ability to pick up some more support wargear for this model to solidify their role in the squad as more of a support piece.

Envoy of Asur - Page 30 - Ranger Long Rifle

The Envoy of Asur was requested to allow all sorts of Outcasts be represented in their retinues - and the request was heard! They may now purchase Ranger Long Rifles.

Voidsmen Cadre - Page 34 - Increase this models Weapon Skill and Ballistic skill to 4, Increase this models Leadership values by +1, increase this units cost per model in this unit to 8. Changes to a number of wargear points costs

We’d had some feedback that the rogue trader infantry felt far too expensive and impactful. Instead of reducing the cost of these units we’ve reverted them to one of their earlier playtesting states where they were more expensive but more elite. This should make these units feel a bit more different to any allied SA or ICM units.

Imperatrix Bondsmen Cadre - Page 35 - Increase this models Wounds characteristic to 2, increase this models cost per model to 11, increase this units base cost to 60. Readjusted cost of ranged weapons

As mentioned in the Voidsmen section, we’ve gone through and tweaked all of the rogue trader Elites to make them more interesting. Imperatrix have been beefed up a little bit to make them a more impressive choice, of which their increase in stats should make them more interesting to play with.

Savaris Bondsmen Vadre - Page 36 - Increase this models Wounds characteristic to 2, Increase the models in this units attacks characteristics by +1, Increase this units base cost to 60 points, increase the cost per model in this unit to 11. Altered the cost of some of this units wargear.

As above, we’ve tweaked the these squads to make them a bit more interesting. Savaris received very similar upgrades to Imperatrix which should make them more of a unique upgrade.

Arvus Lighter - page 40 - RT twin-linked Upgrade and Flare Shield

The above have been added to the Rogue Trader Arvus Lighter to match it to the additions provided to the other Arvus Transports by the Panoptica Suite.

Solar Auxilia and ICM Pegasus - Reduce cost of both SA and ICM variants

These were both overcosted units so we’ve pulled the cost down on the SA variant to 85 and the ICM variants to 65. This should give these units a bit more of a bite when compared to carnodons and hellhounds

Solar Auxilia Regular and Command Pegasus - Remove the Exposed Compartment special rule

These had accidentally been given the Exposed Compartment special rule, despite the lore blurb clarifying its enclosed compartment to align with Solar Auxilia doctrine. This has been rectified.

Solar Auxilia Salamander Command Vehicle - Increase this models ballistic skill to 4

To normalise the statline of the Salamander Command Vehicle and put it in line with the other Command Tanks available to the Solar Auxilia, its Ballistic Skill value has been increased from 3 to 4.

Solar Auxilia regular, command and ICM Salamanders - Increase the hull points of both of these units to 3

Salamanders were too weak in their initial release, and as a result have increased their Hull Points to allow slightly increased punishment.

Hykanatoi - Page 54 - Reworded interactions with Objective Markers

The old restriction regarding the Nemesis Special Rule was a feels-bad when being played by the community. Its wording has been changed, and the new restrictions provide counterplay and interaction that was previously lacking.

Chambers of the Golden Host - Page 54 & 55 - Warlord Traits

The lack of reaction play provided by the Custodes Warlord Traits was a feels-bad in comparison to other Warlord Traits in the game, and as a result a clause has been added to elevate the Custodes and represent the Tactical Acumen they behold. Whilst this fix has only applied to the Traits in this book, the Golden Exemplar Warlord Trait found in Liber Imperium will be updated in the soon-to-release update for our book Liber Panoptica.

Verticalis Command Section -  Page 158 - Reduced Points & Troop Master set to 2 wounds

To align the Verticalis Command Section with some of the core Solar Auxilia units of similar disposition, Verticals Command Sections have received the above changes to make them feel more in-line with their lore.

Knight World - Page 196 - Knights Enablement

To enable more lore-friendly army compositions, armies using the Knight World provenance should now be able to take Knights without restrictions usually imposed.

SA Sabre Battery  - Page 181 - Points increase.

The Solar Auxilia Sabre battery felt too cheap for the abilities it brang to the table, and as a result it has been hit with a points increase.

Provenance of War: Mining Colony  - Page 197

  • Clarified that the ignoring BS and Leadership of Night Fighting only applies to Infantry and Cavalry
  • Removed option to purchase Sawtooth Rockgrinder
  • Added ability for Command Cadres to purchase Goliath Heavy Vehicles as Dedicated Transports
  • Added ability to purchase seismic cannons more widely

We realised that Mining Colony was a bit over tuned, we’ve fixed the error with the Night Fighting applying to units it shouldn't and removed the ability to pick up Sawtooths. We know losing Sawtooths is sad, and we have another provenance planned for the future to fix this gap that we’ve now ended up with. We hope these changes will help solidify mining colony’s themes by increasing access to the wargear in their kits/army.

ICM  - Page 198 - Mounted Command Cadres benefit from Core Provenances

The newly added Mounted Command Cadres did previously not benefit from certain core provenances. These have been added to the Provenance changes to allow interactions with those.

ICM Centaurs - Page 231 -Reduce the hull points of this unit to 2

Centaurs were a bit too durable for their lore, build, and history, and as a result have had a reduction in durability to account for this.

Imperialis Militia Kelaion Sky-Talon Squadron - Page 235 - Increase the price of purchasing the ‘Bunker Drop’ special rule to +50 points. Remove the cost of purchasing a bunker from the Bunker Drop special rule

We’d heard some feedback that the way this rule was setup was a bit confusing, as such we made the cost to buy the special rule upfront which should hopefully be a lot simpler and more intuitive.

Wolfquads - Page 236 - Gained Heavy Stubber, Increased Unit Cost to 60, Mining Laser limited to 1 in 5

Due to their speed and possible loadouts, Wolfquads were a problem unit upon review as a result of their threat range, especially with certain armaments. As a result, the availability of certain options have been rejigged to accommodate a more balanced unit that is enjoyable for all parties involved.

ICM Minotaur Battery - page 249 - points change

ICM Minotaur Batteries were previously overcosted, and as a result have been heavily reduced in price.

ICM Ironcrawlers - Page 255 - Added ability to purchase Sawtooth Rockgrinder and lore blurb changed

Despite the narrowing of the Militia Mining themes, we did not want to narrow the vehicle options left in the wake of the removal of Sawtooth Rockgrinders from the Mining Colony. As a result, we’ve enabled the Ironcrawler to take the Sawtooth Rockgrinders to allow players to represent large industrial vehicles. We also had some feedback that the lore blurb of the Ironcrawler was confusing in aspect to its transport crate and driver cabin, so we have changed the wording to be more easily understandable and widely applicable.

Imperialis Militia Artillery Battery - Page 256 - profile added

A core unit that was missing from this book has now been added - militia artillerists are welcome to rejoice at the inclusion of self-propelled artillery.

Venator  - Page 274 - Weapon option

Due to the incoming Tauros Venator model, Heavy Stubbers have been added as weapon options for the Militia Venator.

Helios Ordnance Carrier  - Page 274 - Griffon Mortar and Thudd Launcher

The Helios Ordnance Carrier felt very anaemic in the shadow of other platforms. As a result, it has been upgunned to allow it to perform as a cheap but affective ordnance option.

ICM Mining Laser - Page 297 - Ranged reduced to 18”, AP increased to 1, Lost Armourbane (Ranged)

Following feedback, Mining Lasers quickly became the premier anti-tank option in the roster, and it was far too efficient at this. As a result, we’ve neutered their ability but focussed their niche as a high-risk high-reward close range alternative to other anti-tank options.

ICM Heavy Mining Laser - Page 297 - Ranged reduced to 24”, AP increased to 1, Lost Armourbane (Ranged)

In the same vein as Mining Lasers, these were also overtuned weapons, and have been focussed in the same manner.

Power Hammer - Page 301 - Brutal (2) removed

Following Feedback, we felt this weapon was overtuned and overlapped too much with existing weapons, so we decided to reign it into its own design space - now providing its own niche without invalidating other weapon options.

Add Grenade Launchers to Servo-Automata found in Liber Imperatus

This is a weapon option that was not retained, and something that we agree should be added. Whilst we have chosen to keep the Tempest Rounds away from the new Heresy Environment, all iterations of Servo-Automata in Liber Imperatus have been provided the Grenade Launcher profile which exists in the new Age of Darkness.
