Panoptica V5.3 Release!

The following is a collated list of almost a dozen meetings worth of notes as to changes we made, removed, or otherwise considered for v5.3. It's not an exhaustive list, though, and things could be missed (we're all only human!) so we recommend checking the book itself rather than just taking this changelog alone.

Rejected changes

[Imperialis Militia Cargo-8 Hauler Squadron] - [Page 26] - [Allow them to separate ‘like Veletarii/Talon’ed Dreadnoughts. ]

[Would open up awkwardness with other transports.]

[Imperialis Militia Cargo-8 Hauler Squadron] - [Page 26] - [Add something like the Unified Assault to it and SotDA Transports.]

[Would open up awkwardness with other transports. Only really relevant to Imperatus transports anyway.]

[Imperialis Militia Beastmasters] - [Page 28] - [Balancing]

[Needs an extensive rework, beyond the scope of the Blitz meetings.]

[Imperialis Militia Leman Russ] - [Page 33] - [Allow basic Leman Russ’ to take multiple without needing Industrial Stronghold Provenance.]

[Isn’t in-line with the fluff of Leman Russ’ being relatively new, advanced tanks that most Militia don’t have access to. Also disincentives our changes to letting vanilla Malcadors squadron.]

Thousand Sons Numerologist Cabal - The Axandria IV Incident, Page 8

  • Equipment options for Numerologist Cabal
  • More appropriate for Centura additions.

Sanguinary Guard Squad - Assault on Castrum Velx, Page 6

  • No source of an Invulnerable Save.
  • Already a good unit, lack of Invulnerable Saves is a gameplay weakness but fluffwise does seem odd for what is meant to be such an elite unit. Potentially look at letting them buy (Refractor Fields?) in Centura, as making the change here would necessitate a big bump to their base cost. May also undermine Ofanim Court further.

Chieftain Squad - The Battle of Trisolian: Vengeful Spirit, Page 7

  • Dedicated Transports for Chieftain Squads.
  • In a good place, but their lack of Dedicated Transport options is notable. Return to with Centura.

Frost Blades - Liber Astartes, Page 200

  • Return Rending (X) to them.
  • We already made them free instead.

Deathsworn Pack - Liber Astartes, Page 208

  • ‘Need something’, and are slow to get up the board.
  • Already in a decent spot. Being slow is just an inherent drawback of Heavy and they have access to DT Rhinos and Land Raider Proteus’ already.

Fenrisian Wolf Pack - Legiones Astartes Legacies, Page 59

  • Rule similar to official FAQ’ed Zardu Layak’s Blade Slaves of being able to take a Retinue despite already being a unit.

Xenos Armoury - The Battle for Beta-Garmon, Page 161

  • Weaponry feeling weak, particularly Deathlocks

Legion Castra Ferrum Dreadnought Talon - Legiones Astartes Legacies, Page 13

  • Move some of the costs of the Castra Ferrum into the Lascannons instead.
  • Changes had already been made to this.

Rite of War: The Awakening Fire - Liber Astartes, Page 310

  • Reduce the cost of buying Fear (1)
  • Opens up a wider discussion around the various sources of buying Fear and Corrupted.

Exoshock proc’ing on weapons types that do additional wounds / hull points - Page 237 - Question raised about if this should be able to proc multiple hull points, and if it should work on dreads. Decided on no

Vehicles are already fragile enough and this would make them even more so. Though Exoshock working on dreads could be fine, the knock on to mechanised and automata would be a bit much so we decided not to move forward with hit

Meridian Swords - Increase cost of Meridian Swords and give Grasp the Rainbow Serpent ‘master crafted’

Decided this doesn't need to be buffed, so we left this as is

Fenrisian Wolves - Allow a IC with the wolves to join another unit.

Decided to leave it until Centura.

Sagittarum Guard - Remove One Shot from their Disintegrator profile and change the profile to match an Adrathic Destructor.

Decided to leave until further testing.

Changes

Declare Charge - FAQ - Page 180 - Added clarification that you cannot declare a charge against a unit if you have shot a different unit unless another special rule allows you to

We had a few FAQ’s clarifying this which we added to certain unit types and rules - we’ve simply added this to the Declare Charge section to make it easier to read and to save space from other entries.

To Wound Rolls and Special Rules (Various Pages) - FAQ  - Aligned rule with GW FAQ

In GW’s last round of FAQ’s they changed a number of special rules which relied on unit types/subtypes to work if there is one or more of those types/subtypes present in the unit (E.g Haywire). Previously we had an order of operation on applying damage to mixed units - This original change has ben removed and we’ve clarified that rules which look for specific types/subtypes now only need to find a single model in the unit to function at full effectiveness - bringing it into parity with the specific special rules changed by GW.

Ordnance and Sunder (Various Pages) - Balance Change - Folded into Type/Subtype entries

The re-rolls that we added to these versus Dreadnoughts and Automata have been added to the Dreadnought and Automata unit types, as opposed to being separate rulings - for readability ease

Heavy FAQ (Various Pages) - FAQ - Renamed to Explosion FAQ

The text of this change, that Explosions are not blasts or templates, is the same - we’ve just moved this into an Explosion FAQ to make it more clear and easier to find for people who aren't specifically looking for Heavy related changes.

Transport restriction removed

We’d added in some explanatory text to go alongside the boxout on page 211, we don’t think this is relevant any more so this has been removed

Slow vehicles – When going cruising Slow vehicles can now only snap shot, however they have gained the ability to move combat

Our original changes to this didn’t work how we wanted, as such we’ve tweaked Slow again so now if you want to move combat speed you can – however cruising will force you to snap shot with everything

The Super-Heavy Vehicle Sub-type (page 215) - Balance Change - Change Removed

This change didn't originally have the effect that we desired (stopping fringe Psychic Power or Psychic Weapons from affecting vehicles) and as such we have removed this as it doesn't actually do anything that we want to

Assigning Wounds to Characters (Page 198) - Balance Change - Replaced original Balance Change with popular community homebrew that Characters can only tank rules up to their Initiative Characteristic

We’ve had a large amount of feedback requesting changes to how squads can allocate Wounds amongst themselves when there are mixed save Characters in the unit. We’ve tested a number of changes but, in the end, decided to settle on the one that's come through to our feedback form the most - Characters only able to tank wounds up to their initiative Characteristic. This still lets you risk a decent amount of tanking, especially on low volume attacks, but gone are the days of a 2+ sgt eating an entire Tactical Squad shooting attack - this should help increase the viability of Ap3 weapons in general.

Knights and Titans (Page 226) - Multiple types of changes - Removed section on charges against things you didn't chose and removed section on psychic focus immunity

The charge section of this change is now a generic FAQ so has been removed from all the multiple unit types that it had initially appeared in. In addition, in mirroring the super heavy changes (and for the same reasons), we have removed it from here as well

Blind (Page 236) - Balance Change - Altered Blind to now only proc on successful Wound rolls instead on To Hit

We had some feedback that stacking Blind was too powerful when Blind was on To Hit, but reverting it back to once per phase would have made it too weak - as such we’ve changed it to now require a successful To Wound. This means that you still have the ability to force multiple checks per phase, but you need to hit and wound first, reducing the efficacy of individual ‘incidental’ blinds - like photon gauntlets or conversion beamers.

Master-Crafted Blast and Template Weapons

“A Master-Crafted Blast or Template Weapon is treated as if it has the Twin-Linked special rule”

Blood Feud

Knights now worth 3 VP. Price of Failure is not included in any of these changes.

Telepathic Fugue

This reduction in range hadnt had any real effect on the power and as such we’ve removed it

Legion Centurion Mortificator

Allows Boxnought to be taken

Legion Scimitar Jetbike/Spatha Combat Bike

In addition, a model equipped with a Legion Spatha Combat Bike sets their Wounds Characteristic to 2, unless they already have a higher starting Wounds Characteristic.

Legion Contemptor Dreadnought

Reworded Gravis Melta change

Changed Kheres Assault Cannon to 5 points

Legion Arquitor Squadron Balance Change

Changed to AV 13

Removed the movement change

Legion Deathstorm Drop Pod Squadron Balance Change

Removed Change

Changed to BS4

Legion Glaive

Decreased to 575 points

Legion FellBlade

Decreased to 600 points

Legion Falchion

Decreased to 625 points

Recon Company

Removed Primary detachment change

Spite of the Legion Balance Change

Removed

Rite of War: Steel Fist

Removed as its better than Armoured Spearhead without the major penalties.

The Storm of War Errata

Changed to Balance Change

Rite of War: Chogorian Brotherhood

This originally restricted LoW access to flyers, but that doesn’t work as Rites of War affect detachments not armies – as such this has been removed

Illiastus Assault Cannon

Changed cost to 10 points for vehicles

Legion Primus Nullifcator Consul - Page 9 - Replaced change giving an Aether shock maul in addition, to a free swap

[free extra weapon, and +1A has some weird interactions so we want to change that]

Legion Nullifactor Squad - (Page 11-12) - Removed the increase to models initiative to 10

[Nullifactors generally have a higher Ld, we feel 10 was a bit too fair on this so we’ve pulled this back]

Legion Castra Ferrum Dreadnought Talon - Page 13 - Removed change that allowed havoc launchers, searchlights and helicals to be taken together instead of individually

We were concerned about the ability of dreadnoughts to pick up searchlights and helicals, allowing them to perform quite well at night in addition to regular play - so we’ve removed this to require your light up to come from somewhere else besides the Dread

Legion Basilisk Squadron and Legion Medusa Squadron - Page 25 and 26 - Increase the Breaching 6+ of Earthshakers to 5+ and the Rending 6+ on the Medusa to 5+

We’ve had a lot of feedback about how underpowered these units are feeling, as such we’ve decided to tweak up the weapons a bit instead of reducing the cost on these (mainly due to knock on that this has on the static batteries) - we hope this will make people more interested in picking these up when compared to the other artillery options available.

Legion Caestus Assault Ramp - Page 28 - Increased Transport Capacity to 12 and tweaked Inertia Suppression Clamps to reduce Bulky by 2 instead of setting it to 1 and we’ve removed Power of the Machine Spirit.

We’ve tidied the Caestus up a bit to allow for more flexibility of the type of model put inside (Gal Vorbak and Raptor enjoyers rejoice), and we’ve added the extra transport capacity to allow for Characters as is standard this edition. We’ve removed Power of the Machine spirit from this unit as well, due to it not having much of an effect on how the unit works.

Legion Macharius Assault Tank Squadron - Page - Replace the Fast and IFC ability on the Malcador with the ability to fire like a Super Heavy if you remain stationary, move combat or cruising. Remove the Co-Axial autocannon as an option. Add Twin Linked to the Heavy Lascannon.

We’ve had some feedback that the ability to flat out Macharius’s was a bit too strong, as such we’ve resolved this by removing Fast and letting a new special rule allow you to move normally and still fire as a super heavy. This should retain its mobility, without having it go tooooo fast. We’ve had negative feedback about the co-axial, due to it not appearing in the kit, as such we’ve removed the co-axial option and replaced this with the normal Vanquisher. In addition we’ve added Twin Linked to the Heavy Lascannon - after receiving a feedback that its a much worse, and more unreliable, option than* the Vanquisher

Battlecannon - Multiple Pages - Add the Rupture (4+) special rule to these weapons

Even though we’ve made a number of tweaks to the Battlecannon we’re still getting feedback that the weapons is lacklustre compared to all the other options. As such we’ve decided to bring back some of its old bite by giving it the ability to crunch through more AP3, but we’ve not touched its ability to get through harder targets (such as terminators)

Macharius Battlecannon - Multiple Pages - Remove the Twin Linked special rule from this weapon, increase its shots to Heavy 2, add the Rupture (4+) special rule to these weapons

In line with the Battlecannon changes, this has inherited the new Rupture (4+) rule. In addition, after a lot of feedback on the unit, we’ve removed the twin linked from the weapon and instead allowed it to fire two shots which should increase its performance, but reduce its reliability a bit.

Tank Desant - Multiple Changes - Changed Tank Desant to be an (X) special rule which now functions like open topped

We’ve tweaked this to function a lot like open topped, but now with a scalable (X) value

Legion Macharius Heavy Tank - Page 40 - Remove Independent Fire Control and Armoured Superstructure, Macharius are now Super Heavies again. Increased cost to 350. Increase Squadron size to 3.

We’ve found that Macharius’s were slightly under utilised, so we’ve upped their points - and reverted the changes to its unit type. Making this, like Gorgons, one of the rare Super Heavies outside the LoW choice. We hope this, alongside a bit of a price bump to compensate and some weapon tune ups make this a more interesting choice.

Legion Macharius Omega Heavy Tank - Page 41 - Remove Independent Fire Control and Armoured Superstructure, Macharius are now Super Heavies again. Increase cost to 450 points. Removed changes to Omega pattern plasma blastgun.

In line with our standard Macharius changes we’ve tweaked the chassis and base points cost. The Omega was also a terrifying force on the battlefield, so we’ve pulled back some of the buffs we put on its weapons.

Excindio Battle-automata

Counts as having dreadnought unit type for its transports and decreased cost to 300 points.

Legion Tarantula Sentry Gun Battery - P.102: Increased the base unit cost to 60.

  • Reasoning: Consistency with the cost of other Tarantulas.

Custodian Tribune - P.20: Change cost of Meridian Swords to +35 points

  • Reasoning: Meridian Swords are a better weapon than the Solarite Power Gauntlet (which costs 30 points), so the swords should cost more.

Tribune of the Golden Legion - P.20: Change removed

  • Reasoning: Tribunes are effectively pseudo-primarchs, so allowing them at 2k can cause balance issues. Especially since they also bring access to deepstrike for three units.

Custodian Shield Captain - P.21: Change cost of Meridian Swords to +35 points

  • Reasoning: Meridian Swords are a better weapon than the Solarite Power Gauntlet (which costs 30 points), so the swords should cost more.

Custodian Hetaeron Squad - P.22: Change cost of Meridian Swords to +35 points

  • Reasoning: Meridian Swords are a better weapon than the Solarite Power Gauntlet (which costs 30 points), so the swords should cost more.

Custodian Venatari Squad - P.22: Change unit cost to 190, points per model cost to +60, and reduce the base attack characteristic to 3.

  • Reasoning: Previous points reductions (175, 55) were too much, and with dual wielding they had too many attacks.

Questora Cadre - P.49: Change the fourth bullet point so individual models can swap their bolters, not the entire unit.

  • Enables the unit to swap their bolters for another weapon, while still being able to mix and match or buy the special weapons.

Knight Vestal Covenant - P.51: Changed removed.

  • Reasoning: GW FAQed it.

Solar Auxilia Tercio - P.68: Added an FAQ that units that are not normally allowed to react may not take part in a Tercio’s mass reaction.

  • Reasoning: Prevents units like Tarantulas being able to react when they shouldn’t be able to.

Cohort Doctrine: Siege Pattern Cohort - P.73: Removed the command vox barrage interaction.

  • Reasoning: We changed the command vox itself to do the same thing.

Solar Auxilia Legate Marshal - P. 74: Replaced the Errata with the Legate Marshal gaining the Field Officer special rule.

  • Reasoning: Matches precedent we created with Imperatus units.

Solar Auxilia Tactical Command Section - P.76: Added the Chosen Warrior special rule.

  • Reasoning: Lets the bodyguard unit have the bodyguard special rule. Also matches the change made to the dedicated Companion section.

Solar Auxilia Companion Section - P.78: Change the option to buy a combi weapon to 5 points for the options to buy a minor combi weapon for 5 points or a magna combi weapon for 10 points.

  • Reasoning: Matching the pricing precedent set by every other combi weapon option in the game.

Solar Auxilia Artillery Command Section/Artillery Spotters special rule - P.100: Changed the Artillery Spotters special rule to give the Cognis Signum buff to 2 units within 6”, instead of 1 unit.

  • Reasoning: Enables the Command Section to give the cognis buff to both units in the Tercio.

Solar Auxilia Tarantula Sentry Battery - P.102: Mirrored the changes on the Legion Tarantula to the Solar Auxilia Tarantula.

  • Reasoning: Consistency with our changes made to the other Tarantulas.

Solar Auxilia Malcador Heavy Tank Squadron - P.104: Remove the “replace Side (X) mount with Hull (X) mount change). Mirrored the changes made to the Legion Malcador tanks.

  • Reasoning: The mounting changes were removed because GW FAQed it.

Solar Auxilia Valdor Tank Destroyer Squadron - P.106: Remove the Fast Unit Type.

  • Reasoning: Matches the changes made to the Malcador.

Solar Auxilia Malcador Infernus Squadron - P.108: Adding the Independent Fire Control.

  • Reasoning: Matches the changes made to the Malcador.

Clade Culexus Assassin - P.115: Change the Weapon Skill Characteristic to 5.

  • Reasoning: The Culexus is an elite assassin. They should have better weapon skill than a basic marine.

Clade Callidus Assassin - P.116: The Callidus assassin can no longer count for scoring or denial purposes while Polymorphine is active, but now the enemy cannot reveal the Callidus by getting close to it.

  • Reasoning: Prevents the scoring exploit, while still letting the Callidus sneak between units without being revealed.

Demolition Vehicle - P.131: Removed the ability to let the Cyclops charge despite its subtype restrictions.

  • Reasoning: We forgot the unit’s Detcon Unit lets it charge despite its subtypes, so the Detcon Unit became useless. We’re fixing that mistake.

Independent Fire Control - P.133: Changed to enable the tank to move at Combat/Cruising Speed and then fire like a Superheavy.

  • Reasoning: Enables the Malcador to move at full speed and split fire while not having the Fast subtype.

Battle Cannon/Stormhammer Cannon - P.140: Skipped.

  • Reasoning: Slated for later internal discussion.

Adrasite Spear - P.147: Added the Breaching (5+) special rule to its Shooting profile.

  • Reasoning: We forgot to give it Breaching (5+) when we gave the other Adrathic weapons Breaching (5+). Whoops.

Charonite Claws - P.150: Upgraded Rending (6+) to Rending (5+).

  • Reasoning: Makes them more consistent.

Krak Grenades - P.155: Works like Melta Bombs, but gained AP3 and Breaching (6+).

  • Reasoning: Improves lethality while keeping it fair for robots.

Solar Auxilia Macharius Heavy Tank Squadron - P.10: Mirrored the changes made to the Legion Macharius tanks.

  • Reasoning: Mirrored Marine changes.

Solar Auxilia Shadowsword - P.15: Increased cost to 525

  • Reasoning: Mirrored Marine changes.

Solar Auxilia Artillery Battery - P.19: Change unit cost to 100 points.

  • Reasoning: Reduced costs to better match performance.

Mechanicum Tarantula Sentry Battery - P.5: Mirrored the changes on the Legion Tarantula to the Mechanicum Tarantula. Removed points changes.

  • Reasoning: Consistency with our changes made to the other Tarantulas.

Mechanicum Phobos Land Raider - P.6: Changed will be removed with the next update of Ingenium.

  • Reasoning: Changes in Ingenium will make these changes irrelevant.

[Weapons & Equipment Upgrades] - [Various Pages] - [If a model equipped with a Lasrifle is eligible to purchase a bayonet and exchanges their Lasrifle for a Lasgun or Autogun, they may still purchase a bayonet as normal. ]

[Brings it in-line with other Bayonet options like Solar Auxilia Penal Cohorts.]

[Merchant Princeling] - [Page 6] - [A Warlord with this Trait also gains the Heavy Unit Sub-Type]

[Lifeguard units being made Heavy means they’re automatically debuffed as the Force Commander has no way to gain Heavy themselves.]

[Imperialis Militia Force Commander] - [Page 8] - [Removed ‘Provenance’ Special Rule]

[Special Rule does literally nothing with or without our FAQ. Removed to save space.]

[Clanfolk Levy] - [Page 9] - [Units selected in this manner gain the Line Sub-Type]

[Gives some Line to a cavalry-Provenance that otherwise still relied on Infantry. Keeping it on Compulsory Troops prevents spam problems (if any). Review in the future if it needs to go further.]

[Cyber-Augmetics)] - [Page 10] - [In addition, any unit which includes a Militia Medicae improves the Feel No Pain (6+) Special Rule provided by their Auto-Medicus to a (5+)]

[Provenance was still weak even with making Slow And Purposeful optional, as FNP 6+ did practically nothing. Buffs to the FNP, but at the cost of having to pay for the Medicaes to get the improved version.]

[Expendable] - [Page 18] - [A Warlord which joins a unit containing any models with the Expendable Special Rule still gives Victory Points for Slay The Warlord, First Strike, or any other Primary or Secondary Mission Objectives as normal when Slain.]

[Previously this was just Independent Characters, while this change prevents weirdness like Discipline Masters from being spared Slay The Warlord.]

[Imperialis Militia Reconnaissance Squad] - [Page 21] - [Change the Points Cost of this unit to 35 Points.]

[Large initial unit cost of 50pts, whereas adding individual models is only 5pts each.]

[Imperialis Militia Cavalry Squad] - [Page 27] - [Change the cost of selecting a Militia Lance to +2 Points]

[Militia Lances aren’t great in practice. REPLICATE THIS CHANGE IN IMPERATUS UNITS.]

[Imperialis Militia Sentinel Squadron] - [Page 29] - [Change the Points Per Model Cost of this unit to +40 Points]

[Brings points more in-line with the Hermes being slightly worse, but a lot cheaper)]

[Imperials Militia Malcador Heavy Tank Squadron] - [Page 32] - [Replicated changes from Legiones and Solar Malcadors.]

[Consistency innit.]

[Imperialis Militia Heavy Ordnance Battery] - [Page 154 of Panoptica] - [Change Gun Platform to Gun Carriage in text.]

[Accidentally written as Gun Platform.]

[Imperialis Militia Baneblade Super-Heavy Battle Tank] - [Page 36] - [Removed points change from Panoptica.]

[Justified as the additional Hull Points taken from being Third-Line balance it out despite not giving up Victory Points for The Price of Failure.]

[Thunderblast Cannon] - [Page 38] - [Replace the Thunderblast Cannon’s profile with the one found in the Panoptica Weapons Section.]

[Added Rupture (5+) as it needed the boost compared to the other options.]

[Ruinstorm Daemon Sovereign] - [Page 6] - [Add the Lord of the Ruinstorm Special Rule.]

[“Only one model with this Special Rule may be included per 1,500 points in your army.” Prevents spamming of Sovereign, but doesn’t so heavily limit their most powerful models the way 0-1 would.]

[Ruinstorm Daemon Hierarch] - [Page 7] - [Change the profile on this unit’s entry to have a Weapon Skill Characteristic of 6.]

[Makes the Hierarch more reliable in combat against higher WS units, justifying their points cost.]

[Ruinstorm Daemon Harbringer] - [Page 8] - [A Harbinger may exchange their Infernal Armaments for the following option:

  • Infernal Armaments  +20 points]

[Opens up the option to get a better weapon, albeit at a cost.]

[Ruinstorm Daemon Beast] - [Page 10] - [Change the points cost of this unit to 70 points]

[Brings the unit cost down to be fairer for what the unit is capable of with prior pano changes and encourages larger/more squads]

[Ruinstorm Daemon Beast] - [Page 10] - [Change the points per model cost of this unit to +20 points]

[Brings the unit cost down to be fairer for what the unit is capable of with prior pano changes and encourages larger/more squads]

[Ruinstorm Daemon Swarms] - [Page 12] - [Remove the Swarm Special Rule from this unit’s profile, and add the Daemonic Hordes Special Rule to this unit’s profile]

[Keeps the swarm alive and play into the spirit of the profile instead of being doubled out to a single power maul or power fist swing, still hurts but it doesn’t feel bad to play]

[Daemonic Hordes Special Rule] - [Page of rule in existing document] - [If a model with the Daemonic Hordes Special Rule suffers an unsaved Wound from a Blast (any size) or Template weapon, each unsaved Wound is multiplied to two unsaved Wounds.

In addition, a model with this Special Rule cannot suffer Instant Death as a result of any Attack which has a Strength value of double its Toughness Characteristic - Though attacks which would otherwise inflict Instant Death in this way may not benefit from the Feel No Pain (X) or Corrupted Resilience Special Rule. Attacks which have the Instant Death Special Rule in their profile are unaffected by this Special Rule and function normally.]

[Makes swarms not die to being doubled out on a single attack]

[Ruinstorm Daemon Harrier] - [Page 14] - [Change the points cost of this unit to 100 points]

[Why have we made this change? Are there any surrounding reasons or points? Did we discuss other ideas and dismiss them to make this change happen?]

[Greater Ruinstorm Daemon Beast] - [Page 15] - [Add the Feeding Frenzy special rule to this unit’s profile]

[Makes the greater Daemon Beast more survivable without making it a total murder machine that will be hard to kill]

[Feeding Frenzy Special Rule] - [Page of rule in existing document] - [At the end of an Initiative Step in which an enemy model is slain in close combat as a result of attacks made by a model with this Special Rule, the Controlling Player may roll a D6 for each model slain. On a result of a 6 a model with this Special Rule in the attacking unit immediately regains 1 Wound, up to its starting Wounds Characteristic.]

[was in upcoming content, added to help the Greater Daemon Beast]

Rite of War: The Awakening Fire - Liber Astartes, Page 310

  • Salamanders Adherents Squads chosen as Troops in a Detachment using this Rite of War lose the Support Squad Special Rule and gain the Line Unit Sub-Type.
  • They fit the fluff of Awakening Fire very well and frankly the RoW is just kind of [BEEP], so any boost is good and they’re an interesting option.

Rite of War: Achaean Configuration - Liber Hereticus, Page 257

  • A Detachment using this Rite of War must include at least one Techmarine Covenant or Thousand Sons Numerologist Cabal.
  • They’re a quasi-Techmarine unit, so it makes sense the Legion-specific variant could be run in their place.

Word Bearers Procurators Squad - The Scouring of Gilden's Star, Page 8

  • Change Heavy Chainswords to 2pts
  • Unit is already expensive so paying extra for Heavy Chainswords, even with our buffs, stings a bit. Soft touch to a unit that needs help (plus the page had spare space).

Word Bearers Procurators Squad - The Scouring of Gilden's Star, Page 8

  • Allow models with the IC Special Rule and Harbinger of Chaos, Diabolism or Anathemata Psychic Disciplines to join them, as an exception to Grim Purpose.
  • Flesh Harvesters is an unusual and awkward rule that wants certain Psychic characters to stay close, but they cannot cannot join them normally - feels like a 40k 8th rule.

Word Bearers Procurators Squad - The Scouring of Gilden's Star, Page 8

  • Procurators can be taken as a Retinue for models with Harbinger of Chaos, Diabolism, or Anathemata Psychic Disciplines.
  • Soft touch that frees up an Elites spot, which may be at a premium, thus making the unit more attractive without having to make deeper changes for the time being.

Arms of the Omnissiah - The Liberation of Constanix II, Page 6

  • Change the wording of the Blessed Arms. “Option - Blessed Arms: Eligible models in Imperialis Militia Grenadier Squads and Imperialis Militia Command Cadres may upgrade lasguns to Las-locks at no additional points cost, and may upgrade Sniper Rifles to Arc Rifles at a cost of +25 points per unit, regardless of the number of models or types of weapons upgraded in a given unit.”
  • Not worth the points cost to upgrade on both weapon options, especially in comparison to Armoury of Old Night from the main Militia list.

Arms of the Omnissiah - The Liberation of Constanix II, Page 6

  • Add the following to this Provenance of War’s wording:  “Any Detachment with this Provenance is treated as Sworn Brothers by any Detachment with the Mechanicum Faction in the same army.”
  • Fluff for this Provenance talks about them having strong ties to the Mechanicum. Cyber-Augmetics in the main Militia list also makes them Sworn Brothers and fits a similar theme.

Augmented Levy - The Liberation of Constanix II, Page 6

  • Add the following to this Provenance of War’s wording: “Any Detachment with this Provenance is treated as Sworn Brothers by any Detachment with the Mechanicum Faction in the same army.”
  • Fluff for this Provenance talks about them having strong ties to the Mechanicum. Cyber-Augmetics in the main Militia list also makes them Sworn Brothers and fits a similar theme.

Jorlund Hunter Pack - The Battle of Trisolian: Vengeful Spirit, Page 6

  • Add the Skirmish Sub-Type and the Hit & Run Special Rule to this unit’s profile.
  • Unit needs help. These additions are fluffy, while giving them a bit of that boost they need. Look at further equipment via Centura.

Kratos Battle Cannon - Liber Panoptica, Page 168?

  • HE Shells: Increased range to 48” and copied the PanO Battle Cannon statline. AP Shells: Increased range to 60” and added Brutal (2), Flashburn Shells: Added Wrecker Special Rule.
  • HE Shells: Brings in line with the normal Battle Cannon. AP Shells: Makes them closer to - but not as good as - ze Vanquisher Cannon. Flashburn Shells: Needed something more to make it worth paying the points for, on an already expensive tank.

Phaeton Autocannon - Liber Panoptica, Page 168?

  • Increased to 3 shots

Shattered Legionaire Special Rule - Various Publications

  • Created and added Shattered Legionaire Special Rule to a number of characters.
  • Various named characters across different publications are missing the Special Rules needed to take them in Shattered Legion forces.

Crysos Morturg - Legiones Astartes Legacies, Page 85

  • Created and added The Black Shield Special Rule to his profile.
  • Despite literally being named The Black Shield you were not able to take him in a Blackshields force. Adding Master of the Legion via this fits him leading a Company of them in the fluff while being able to take Poisoners was a cute additional option (and he led Destroyers prior to Istvaan).

Household Ranks - Liber Mechanicum, Page 88

  • If an Imperial Knight selects any Household Rank, Dark Blessing (other than Aspirant, Seneschal or Heedless Slaughter) or Holy Benediction, it increases its Hull Points Characteristics by +1.
  • Added to account for Dark Blessings, as they would not receive the Hull Point buff otherwise.

Animatus Malevolence - Liber Mechanicum, Page 155

  • Instead of making a Shooting Attack, a Cybertheurgist with this Rite may select a single friendly unit within 12” that contains models with the Corrupted Engine Unit Sub-Type or models with both the Automata Unit Type and the Corrupted Unit Sub-Type, and then apply one of the following affections:”
  • Future proofing to allow them to target Automata that have Corrupted.

Volkite Veuglaire - Liber Mechanicum, Page 119

  • Increased to 8 shots

Phalanx Warder Squad - Liber Astartes, Page 234 / Liber Panoptica Page 123

  • Removed change that disallowed them taking Legion Rhino Transports.
  • Removing options is a Feels Bad and Stone Gauntlet was already nerfed.

Solar Auxilia Command Tank - Liber Imperium, Page 136 / Liber Panoptica Page 146

  • “An Armoured Legate may nominate a single Auxilia Armoured Tercio in the same Detachment, and may use their Solar Auxilia Command Tank Special Rule to join squads within that Tercio as if they were purchased as part of it.”
  • Patched an issue with the wording.

Macrocarid Explorator - Page 7 - Macrocarid gained Reinforced subtype

This change brings the Macrocarid in line with the Spartan, who also has Reinforced and costs the same

Knight and Titan subtype - Page 216 - Knights and Titans gain +2 Attack for having two melee weapons instead of +1

This is the first step towards trying to make double melee knights/titans an interesting choice when compared to their ranged counterparts

Strength in numbers - Page 18 - Removed mention of specific units, and made the rule work generically for units joining them

This is to let some of the units we wrote in Imperatus function

Pyrithite Spear - Page 147 - Increase range of the melta gun to 12” from 6”

The default profile on this is a melta pistol, and doesnt get used. It’s already a 15 point upgrade, so making it just an actual melta gun - which costs 15 points anyway, was deemed fine.

Caladius Grav-Tank - Page 32 - Replace Turret Mounted Iliastus Accelerator cannon with a Turret Mounted Iliastus Array

This weapon has a really low quantity of shots so we’ve ported over an existing PanO weapon to cover this

Adrathic Weapons - 145 - Replace the Breaching (5+) we added to Breaching (4+) and add Ejector Blowout (Gets hot is Ap2)

Adrathics are still weak after our changes

Adrathic Weapons - 145 - Replace the Breaching (5+) we added to Breaching (4+) and add Ejector Blowout (Gets hot is Ap2)

Adrathics are still weak after our changes

Ephemera Exocluo - 95 - Replace Blind with the Sensor Flare special rule.

Ensures that the weapon works with the changes we made to Blind.

[Legion Shamshir Jetbike] - [180] - [(or is otherwise equipped with one as part of its basic Wargear) and Skilled Rider]

[Unintentional wording - the Jetbike improvements ONLY applied to units that purchased the upgrade,  not any that started with a Shamshir.  Also added Skilled rider as a missing rule]

[Legion Spatha Attack bike] - [Page 15] - [Change Multi Melta cost to 15 points]

[at 25 points the cost was excessive on a fragile frame. Makes the model cost 60 pts vs 70 pts]
